For our students to develop properly and have a healthy life is essential to have a healthy diet, regular physical activation and a healthy environment. Let´s talk about eating habits.
Healthy eating habits are:
COMPLETE. Since it includes all the nutrients (carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, vitamins and minerals.
BALANCED. The foods that are consumed contain the nutrients in adequate and balanced proportion.
INNOUCUOUS. Regular consumption does not imply health risks because it is free of pathogenic microorganisms, toxins and contaminant and is consumed in moderation.
SUFICIENT. It covers all nutritional needs.
VARIETY. Contains different foods from each group at each meal.
ADEQUATE. It is according to the tastes, customs and economic resources, without sacrificing the overall healthy characteristics.
Taken from the “How to prepare school lunch and have an adequate diet” SEP document.
It is necessary to learn and understand the good eating habits to understand how to prepare a breakfast and lunch fitted to our child´s needs, they will have energy and willingness to learn along their school day. If it comes from the ground it is good, but if it comes from a box, is it?
Upcoming events: Halloween, get your costume ready!

Primary Years Programme PYP
In this first contact of the 2017- 2018 school year, I would like to introduce myself.
My name is Maria Ines Mayaudon, Venezuelan dedicated to Education since 1998. Graduated from the University of Carabobo with a Degree in Education (1997) and a Master in Reading and Writing (2007); I belong to the IB Educators network since 2008, which has given me experience to
share with teachers from many countries who share the passion of educating.
During this school year I will be part of the Colegio El Camino Family, leading the Coordination of the PYP.
It is wonderful to receive you in this period, where we will continue to strengthen minds and
the hearts of our students, in order to grow and develop the profile of the community of
knowledge, attitude, concepts and actions that support each student to be able to continue to secure an international education where they can build the community, the country and the world in which we want to live. Below, I present a brief overview of what the Program is and the profile of the learning community of Colegio El Camino.
Getting to know the Primary Year Programme (PYP)
The International Baccalaureate (IB) offers a continuum of international education programs. The
IB programs encourage students to achieve their academic goals and what leads them not only to stand out in their studies, but also in their personal growth.
What is PYP?
The PYP prepares students to be active, supportive and adopt an attitude of learning
throughout their lives, who show respect for themselves and others, and have the capacity to
participate in the world around them. It focuses on the overall development of the child and his ability to inquire and discover, inside and outside the classroom.
The PYP curriculum
The PYP curriculum includes three key components, which explain the learning process, how
Teachers teach, and what are the principles and practice for effective evaluation within the framework of the Programme. Each school organizes in this framework what is proposed by the National Curriculum of its country and promotes students to learn about their country, their customs and beliefs, then look in perspective at others countries; taking a globalized view of the world. To form the student in an integral way, the attributes of the profile form an important point
that guides this development from the perspective of knowledge and the personal – social area.
The profile of the learning community
The profile of the learning community of the International Baccalaureate (IB) is the expression of a wide range of abilities and responsibilities that go beyond academic success. These attributes entail a commitment to help all members of the school community learn to respect themselves, others and the world around them.
Each of the IB programs is committed to the development of the IB in the students.
This profile aims to train students who are:
- Inquirers
- Informed and instructed
- Thinkers
- Good communicators
- Healthy
- Open minded
- Solidary
- Bold
- Balanced
- Reflective
Every day we want the Camino Community to identify with these attributes, to guide life
as a community and thus together build a more global world. If you wish to continue to know the PYP, we invite you to consult the page www.ibo.org from where this information was taken.
Learning Experiences Start school year
For the beginning of this school year our students participated in a variety of experiences where the development of understanding of tools was promoted for:
- Team work
- Graphic organizers
- Managing emotions and time
- Reading comprehension
- Working, study habits; among others
Within these activities, the students worked collaboratively and oriented to live the philosophy of the schools of the IB World; where their productions and participation showed how they are oriented to be whole, solidary, thinkers, open minded; that is to say to project in the work the attributes of the profile.
We would like to share some graphic samples of the significant, pertinent and interesting results of this cycle.

Diploma Programme DP
The International Baccalaureate through the Diploma Program (DP) is an opportunity for personal and academic development for the student, staff and professional for the teacher.
The IB stimulates within the “Profile Attributes” to promote skills such as: Inquiry, Communication, Open Mind, Audacity, etc. It is on this line that our school, faced with the educational needs of 11th and 12th grade students, found a great opportunity to confront our students with the real and interactive world of communications, through technology, offering two weeks of online biology subject classes. A bilingual teacher trained in the subject IB from Barcelona (Spain) allowed our students to summarize through this experience everything that the IB proposes through its attributes and academic demand.
Colegio El Camino thanks the support of Elizabeth Villa, who with her experience and work allowed to experience “in situ” the benefits and the pride of being an IB school.

Psychology
As part of the preparation of our students, Colegio El Camino is now offering Vocational Guidance as one of the subjects in the 3 years of high school Vocational Guidance helps to forge the future of human beings committed to themselves and to society, so to questions like: Who am I?, Where am I going?, Where do I come from? This gives them the tools to make the right decisions that forge a future based on their personality profile and their abilities.
In this process, both national and foreign universities work hard together with the school to establish agreements and close ties recognizing our students as the best academically prepared to enter them. It is a pride to our community to have our students achieve greatness in the name of Los Cabos and our institution in different parts of the world.
Library
The beginning of this school year (2017-2018) means a period of goals to be fulfilled with a specific time frame according to the needs that are generated by the growth both in the structure and in the number of readers that visit the library each day.
It is satisfying to announce that work from the previous school year keeps growing. We now have a more organized service for the school, teaching and administrative community. But I work is not complete, there are new challenges to overcome with all aimed at making this space a reading center.
During Elementary section break periods, the library becomes children´s favorite place to visit. Their curiosity leads them to interesting topics and various stories. While high school students had the opportunity to get closer to their library knowing how bibliographic material is classified, and in this way, to guide themselves to request their book and that the level corresponds to their reading ability.
The inquiry room is fulfilling its function: teachers and students use it daily to carry out their research, develop projects and make various presentations; keeping order and showing responsibility during your stay at this place.
Our sincere thanks to the families and students who have made their donation of books and have contributed for this reading center to have a larger bibliographic material:
- Galbrath Family
- Sparrow Zaldívar Family
- Thoma Alvarado Family
- Jett Halliday 11th Grade A
- Alec Carbó López 12th Grade
- Alondra Zúñiga Pastrana 9th Grade A
- Diego Felipe Fumachi Montes 9th Grade A
- Stella Zamora 10th Grade A
Likewise, we invite you to continue donating and collaborate with the people of the second floor of the school library with new stories to read, more books to explore, touch, smell, study, share, imagine, etc. Bearing in mind that with support and will this project will continue to advance for the benefit of the educational community.

Technology
A new modem has been purchased and installed which will increase our bandwidth. This has allowed the school to mitigate the damages caused to our network of telephone and internet by the recent tropical storm. Gradually the damaged lines have been replaced and the service is being restored for optimal performance.
I became a fan, i want more texts like this one very good i learned a lot i liked.
