What programs of study does Colegio El Camino have?

We provide a skills based, transdisciplinary, bilingual curriculum with a values program embedded which is certified with the official SEP (Secretary Education) from Kindergarten to Grade 12. We are currently an authorized IB World School in the Kinder, Elementary and High School sections. We are currently in the feasibility stage of the IB MYP Program. In addition to receiving a High School Diploma, Students are given the opportunity to earn an IB diploma that is based on international standards and provides exciting opportunities for post high school studies.

What is the IB Programme?

The IB is an international organization offering four programmes of international education, with them, the prospect of a continuous international educational experience from early childhood to pre-university age. While the IB now offers a sequence of four programmes – the PYP, the Middle Years Programme (MYP, introduced in 1994) and Diploma Programme (DP, introduced in 1968), and the IB Career-related Certificate (IBCC, introduced in 2012) – each programme must continue to be self-contained, since the IB has no requirement for schools to offer more than one programme. Colegio El Camino currently offers the Diploma Program ( 11th and 12th grades ) and the IB PYP Program ( Kinder through 6th grade )

With the development of a continuum of international education, it is intended that teachers, students and parents will be able to draw confidently on a recognizable common educational framework, a consistent structure of aims and values and an overarching concept of how to develop international-mindedness.

The IB profile will be at the heart of this common framework, as a clear and concise statement of the aims and values of the IB, and an embodiment of what the IB means by “international-mindedness”

What is the benefit for my child receiving an IB education?

At its heart, the IB is a student-centered non-profit working to develop intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills for students that live, learn and work in a rapidly changing world.

Parents of past, current, and potential IB students have a vested interest in the quality of the IB and the benefits an IB education can provide their children. Parents of IB Diploma programme (DP) students are keenly aware of he rigour of the IB, as the intensity of the programme draws the cohort together, creating a strong bond between those students and the IB. In much the same way, parents and siblings of IB Diploma students live that experience vicariously as the students work toward their IB diplomas.

IB World Schools provide parents with detailed information about the schools, teachers and support services available to students. We encourage parents to contact the IB coordinator in their child´s school in order to discuss any concerns or questions you may have.

Parents are invited to join the IB parent community, members of he IB parent community can choose to receive information about the IB in their region, the university recognition efforts of the IB and what other parents are doing to help their students. Visit: http://ibo.org/about-the-ib/
