General Director
IB Consultation Visit at Colegio El Camino June 2nd and 3rd
We would like to send a warm Camino Welcome to our International Baccalaureate Consultant Mr. Carlos Agustín Ogno Cortez, who is the Academic Coordinator in Colegio de los Sagrados Corazones Viña del Mar, Chile.
As you may know we are a member of a very special group of over 4000 IB World Schools around the world, 109 IB World schools in Mexico and the one and only IB World School in Baja California Sur. Being a member of this elite group of schools requires that we meet the high standards set by the International Baccalaureate Organization. The process of implementing each program takes 3 years from the feasibility study to the authorization. Colegio El Camino has already achieved this lofty status with the Diploma Program in 2014 and our first generation of high school graduates have finished their studies and will receive their IB results in July.
As you may know, we already achieved the status of candidate school for the IB Primary Years Program which runs from Kindergarten to grade 6. The entire Kindergarten and Elementary staff has been working diligently over the last two years under the tutelage of Gustavo Mejia our IB PYP coordinator and certified IB workshop leader. We have provided official training for the staff, constructed the Primary Years Program, and acquired additional resources in order to provide your children this high quality, bilingual, inquiry based program.
Our program requires ongoing analysis and reflection that leads to continuous improvement. As part of that process every IB candidate school including ours is provided a consultant from the IBO to analyze our program, observe classes, audit our resources and interview representative stakeholders. All of this is gathered and the consultant gives us feedback on our strengths and areas of opportunity and recommendations.
We are very honored to have Mr. Ogno Cortez with us.
Kindergarten
The best gift we can provide to our children.
Childhood is one of the most important stages in life, where each child acquires a series of skills and builds their knowledge base. Children go through numerous changes that are barely noticed and these are things we need to keep an eye out for.
Time is not sold at the mall, drug stores or toy stores, it is only found inside of us, in the mindfulness we have when sharing time and being care some while sharing. We must know that a bedtime story is not read in 2 minutes, it needs time and dedication. Turning on the TV or giving kids an iPad is another example, even if you are sitting next to them but both are using these devices.
Set yourself a goal and share 15 minutes of your day exclusively with your children, pay complete attention while with them, listen, observe, enjoy, love and play with him/her. You will be surprised of how much you can learn from them, you will learn their fears and dreams. This will remind you of your purpose in life.
“Haste is negative, not explain things slowly may be misleading. We must create the climate for the kids to ask questions and give time so that everything is rounded and there are no fringes. Any item explained enthusiastically and calm captures the interest of children. But for that we must live it, believe it. Everything stays within if you do not have time to let it out”

Dear Parents, Students and Teachers,
Our students from 6th Grade will be taking the PLANEA evaluation on June 8th and 9th. PLANEA stands for National Plan for Learning Evaluation.
We are asking for both parents and students to be on time for both days, your attendance to this evaluation is extremely important.
5th Bimester Evaluations will take place from June 20th to July 4th; we cordially remind parents that we are still on time to review children´s notes, home works or any missing assignments. Also please ensure that your child takes the proper time to study while at home.

The IB´s Community Profile in Action
To talk about the learning profile of the IB community goes beyond knowing and reciting the 10 principles and values that describe it.
The learning community profile helps our students develop a standard of values on which they can base their international mind, acknowledge the conditions that relate us as human beings and the responsibility to ensure the construction of a better and more peaceful world.
In the beginning, the profile of the IB community began as “The ideal student” after a review process it was considered appropriate that this profile is shared and developed with all members of the educational community involved in this formative experience of our students.
Therefore, it is expected that members of the IB learning community (students, parents, teachers and collaborators) strive to be:
– Inquiring
– Well informed
– Thinkers
– Skilled communicators
– Principled
– Open minded
– Solidary
– Bold
– Balanced
– Reflective
But, how can we discover these attributes on a daily basis? How will our students be able to develop them? In most cases we all learn by doing things, when we watch a clear example of how things are done. This way, children will know how to take it to practice.
In this occasion we want to share how the profile´s attributes are present in our school:
Integrity is the attribute that describes Gregoria Rodríguez Meza, best known as Goyita. She has worked as a Teacher’s Assistant at our school for 22 years. During her career Goyita has shown a very high sense of equity, justice and respect for one and each student. On a daily basis she identifies the individual needs of our students; she takes on the tasks assigned by teachers with responsibility. Her fellow Teachers recognize her as a responsible and prudent woman, and know that they can rely on her for the daily development of activities.
Using Goyita´s example, we encourage other members of the educational community to enforce the profile´s attributes, which are often discovered through actions, rather than speeches.
To conclude we share the thoughts of our students, about how to discover and live the profile attributes of the IB community.
