Kindergarten
Here are some of the activities we enjoyed this month:
Learning in Family Workshop
We want to thank all parents who attended the workshop “ Learning to make friends” that was hosted by Psychologist Ernesto Arturo Salcido B. There was a great response to the information provided. If you have any questions please reach out to us.
Hawk’s Day Winners: Silver House!
As celebration for their victory, we took our little ones to McDonald’s, where they had pancakes and lots of fun!
Amelia Wilkes Museum
Our students from K3 visited Amelia Wilkes Museum in Downtown San Lucas as part of their inquiry unit “How the World Works”. We had the opportunity to see changes in technology over the years and how humans have benefited from these changes.
Math Fair
To promote learning, make it significant and fun we organized a Math fair. Our little ones had the opportunity to participate in different activities and even do some shopping. Parents who attended commented:
“I really enjoyed this activity. We spent time with our children and could see their progress, which I am amazed of by the way. Thank you for the invitation.”
Sandra Agudelo, Nursery
“Everything was great. All activities were very helpful for the children, thank you.”
Jace’s Dad, Kinder 1
“We are very thankful for allowing us to participate in this super fun learning dynamic for the children. There was great bonding and inclusion. As mothers we also learned a lot.”
Miriam Arellano, Kinder 2
“Great activity for the kids. They had tons of fun and loved the participation.”
Anylu, Kinder
Spring Festival
Springtime brings new changes in our lives. Just like the caterpillars that transform into beautiful butterflies, our little ones will present the play “Vivian the Caterpillar” who wished to have beautiful wings.

PYP Primary Years Programme
THE ROLE OF SCIENCE IN THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROGRAM
In the PYP, the natural sciences are a disciplinary area of great importance within the program of inquiry as students have the opportunity to perceive and understand the world from a scientific perspective.
Learning natural science not only focuses on developing content through teacher-generated explanations or simply looking for information in textbooks that are supported in the classroom or the school library. Learning science is to interact with the facts or phenomena of the environment. This can be achieved through observing, manipulating and experimenting with various objects, plants and resources within the school laboratory.
The learning experiences developed from this perspective stimulate a more specific curiosity about how the technologies work. Questions arise among students like; Why do some phenomena appear in the natural world? What is the reason for certain transformations? How can I design and create objects? But above all it provides the opportunity for students to find their own answers to their questions.
Natural sciences not only promote the approach and understanding of various phenomena, but also foster the development of an international mentality, since it allows students to learn to appreciate the scientific contributions of people belonging to different cultures and contexts.
Within this framework, of the elementary school program we are generating indications of experiential learning in the natural sciences by encouraging laboratory practices for our students with the support of their teachers. With this we seek to generate a deeper approach to the contents of different disciplinary areas such as chemistry, physics and biology through the exploration of concepts.

Psychology
How many times are we wrong because we “listened half way” because we did not give enough time for the other person to finish a dialogue, question or instruction or when we think we already know the answer. It is important since early stages to learn to listen and understand time and space to be able to perform any activity.
The follow-up of an instruction generates peace of mind in knowing that, how and why an action is to be carried out. This is why we will talk about its importance and some simple strategies that can be applied in daily life thus favoring learning in reading comprehension and math, as well as ease of tasks involving complex sequences and procedures.
When you speak to your child:
- Make eye contact at your child’s height
- Observe how many instructions he is able to carry out
- Organize your thoughts before giving oral instructions
- Don’t take it for granted that your child understood, verify that he or she did
- Congratulate your children for their accomplishments
Lexium is a company dedicated to evaluate, diagnose and set strategies that favor teaching methods and strengthen the teaching – learning process for the development of abilities. Here are some of the strategies used:
- Have an activities calendar
- Create the habit of punctuality, always arriving early or delivering projects on time
- Constantly enrich our vocabulary
- Use maps to create routes when going places
- Practice sports or musical activities
- Dance, it is always fun and allows for better motor skills
- Tell stories and invite your children to improvise the ending
- Write a recipe step by step
- Before answering a question, make sure to respond with another question
- Follow the steps and instructions in a manual, recipe or school project
